The Challenge

Cyclis Bike Lease is the pioneer in bike leasing and already had a strong digital foundation: three web portals for cyclists, HR managers and dealers, built together with Buzzworks. But the world, much like their cyclists, has gone mobile too. Cyclists want to quickly log their kilometres after a ride, run a simulation for a new bike while at the dealer, or report damage on the spot when something goes wrong. Not behind a laptop, but on their smartphone.


The brief was clear: a native mobile app that makes life even easier for cyclists. But built smart, without reinventing the wheel. After all, much of the functionality already existed on the web portal my.cyclis.be.

Our approach

We kicked off with a story mapping workshop where we mapped out all requirements together with Cyclis. Which tasks absolutely need to be mobile? Which can we cleverly reuse from the existing portal? That last question proved crucial: by seamlessly integrating web functionality into the mobile app, we saved time and budget without compromising user experience.


From rough sketches we moved to a full design process with prototypes. Regular demos kept everyone aligned: Cyclis saw continuous progress on both design and development.

The app we built brings together everything a cyclist needs. Simulate a new bike? A few taps. Report damage? Quick and clear, no paperwork. Track your commute for the bike allowance? The app keeps score and shows how much you've already saved. Push notifications keep cyclists informed, and login works via their employer's Single Sign-On.

The result


Cyclis Bike Lease is one of the first bike leasing companies with a fully-fledged mobile app. Within the first month after launch, over 4,600 cyclists had already onboarded. The response has been enthusiastic and plans for new features are already in the works.


But perhaps more importantly: this project proves the power of the digital experience layer we built for Cyclis years ago. That investment keeps paying off. We don't build new digital experiences from scratch, but on a solid foundation.
