<p class="">Buzzworks builds AI agents on Mastra, an open source framework for AI agents in TypeScript, for organisations that cannot afford loose AI experiments: banking, government, healthcare, industry and services, sectors where an agent gets access to sensitive data and real processes and where the question "who is responsible?" needs an answer before rollout. An agent in this sense does not answer questions, it carries out tasks, and Buzzworks starts from the client's processes and data rather than from the technology. Every engagement begins with a systems analysis: processes, systems, data and roles are mapped with the people who do the work, each candidate use case is scored on business impact, risk, data readiness and the level of human oversight it still needs, and a business case is fixed before the build with KPIs such as lead time, error margin, cost per file and customer satisfaction, measured again after rollout. Business, IT, legal and security jointly define what an agent may decide on its own, what it only proposes and where a human signs off; those limits later become guardrails in the code. The analysis phase delivers an opportunity map, a prioritised roadmap and a non-binding scope for the first agent, and it also names the use cases better left away from an agent. Buzzworks builds on Mastra because it provides the building blocks an agent needs in production without locking the client into one model vendor or one cloud: agents that reason where that helps and deterministic workflows where needed, with branches, human approval steps and resumption after interruption; typed tools towards the client's own APIs, databases and legacy systems, with MCP connections and explicit permissions per tool; memory and RAG over the client's own documents and conversation history, stored where the client decides with retention periods the client sets; tracing of every step and evaluation of every output against the client's criteria. Switching to another provider, or to an EU-hosted open-weights model, does not require rewriting the agent. The code is plain TypeScript with ordinary CI/CD and code review, so the client's own developers can take it over without a new language or platform. Governance, security and privacy are part of the architecture from the first design: input and output validation, policies, per-tool permissions and human-in-the-loop on every high-impact step; least privilege for every agent and tool, secrets kept out of the prompt, protection against prompt injection and data exfiltration, audit logs of every action and a secure development lifecycle as used for Buzzworks' serious apps; data minimisation, PII masking before a model sees anything, data processing agreements in order and a DPIA where needed; zero data retention, meaning model providers only under contracts without retention and without training on client data, or models on the client's own infrastructure, with logs, traces and memory under the client's control; EU hosting, a choice of European or open-weights models where required and an architecture that can switch model and cloud without a rebuild, ready for the EU AI Act, NIS2 and the digital sovereignty agenda; full traces of every decision, monitoring of drift and cost, and an incident playbook. Every use case is classified under the EU AI Act risk framework, with the matching documentation, transparency and human oversight built in so compliance does not become a separate project. Typical applications are file and case handling (agents that prepare applications, claims or tickets and leave the decision to a person), knowledge and document work with source references and without leaks, operations and back-office work connecting systems where people copy and paste today, first-line customer and citizen contact with escalation to a human within agreed limits, copilots for lawyers, analysts and engineers, and agentic features added to existing apps. The approach runs in six steps: systems analysis; business case and governance framework signed off by legal, security and business; a first scoped agent on Mastra with real data, real tools, guardrails, traces and evals rather than a demo on dummy data; measuring and tuning against the agreed KPI with the client's own experts; production rollout in the client's infrastructure with monitoring, incident playbook, documentation and handover to the client's team; and scaling from the roadmap, with each next agent built on the same framework, guardrails and observability. The client owns the code and the data. Buzzworks is based in Belgium with offices in Hasselt, Antwerp and Ghent, can draw on the 1,300+ specialists of Xplore Group when needed, and the first conversation ends in a non-binding proposal for the analysis phase with a first estimate of where the value lies and what the first agent could be.</p>
